Cute little puppy-----definately looks like daddy is a JRT. While true that a lot of JRTs are not so good with children, a lot is dependent on being raised with children, and the training you put into it.
I've had 4 JRTs in my life, and each was different.
First, came Missy. While not a full Jack, she was 3/4, and came from an "Oops" litter (mommy and babies were kept indoors). She was WONDERFUL with children, although a chicken killer.
Second, there was Dodger----came from a man who bred hunters, Dodger was terrific at getting rid of shrews and mice----and great with kids, unless he was on Mommy's lap!
Third, was Pup. He was the sweetest of them all. He was a stray that someone had taken in, and they put an ad in the paper for a free dog. I actually got him for a friend whose JRT had been stolen. Pup stayed with my family for a week, and it was so hard to let him go. He was perfectly housetrained, loved everyone (even other dogs and cats), and even knew some tricks such as "dancing" on his hind legs.
Fourth, was Bullet. He was from a litter my sister's dog, Suki, had. Suki was a great dog (even with kids), but daddy was a breeder-owned Jack, and I think quite inbred. Bullet was the WORST dog I have ever owned! He disliked children (even though raised with mine), was difficult/impossible to housetrain, and not good with too many other dogs. He eventually had to be put down because he severly bit my youngest son with no provocation whatsoever------my son was 10 at the time, and just outside with the dog (who was loose) and said, "C'mon Bullet, let's run." and took off running. Bullet just jumped up and grabbed my son by the inner thigh and was hanging there! Whe we finally got him to release, he circled around my son and was going to go in for another attack. That was hid last day at our house.
My point is just this: you cannot judge a dog by its breed, but you can judge one by its parentage, original owners, and how you yourself train and socialise it. Good luck with your adorable girl!
