Hi I will be getting 8 new quail chicks in a couple of weeks at which point they will be 4 to 5 weeks old. I imagine the breeder will be feeding them on a chick starter crumble feed. I would like to eventually get them on to a pellet but do I wait till there 6 to 8 weeks old? Also if I do keep them on a chick crumble for another two weeks till there 6 weeks old how do I make the transition from the crumble to the quail pellet?

I wouldn't worry too much about a transition. Have you found the type of pellet you're going to give them? If so, just wait until they're 6-8 weeks old and switch their chick crumbles with pellets. If you really want a smooth transition, you can give them a mix of the two for a few days.

Please mix the starter crumbles immediately with bei normal pellets, as the starter crumbles are to high protein for nearly adult quails.
If you still feed the starter after 6 Werks, you'll risk eggbound, because of the high protein.

Ok thanks for that so as I will be getting them when they are four weeks old I will mix the pellets with the starter crumbles for two weeks then when there six weeks old I will just give pellets 👍

P.S.: I also start in the 4th week with 10% pellets 90% starter and change every day 10%. So with 5 and a half week I am in pellets only.
Working perfect.
