New question about humidity

Temps are reading low. Is the thermometer flat on the bator floor? Raise it up to egg level if so and then check the temps again after a few hours.

I raised them up awhile ago, and now they say: #1-100.2 in the WW, 97.7 in the air in the bator, and 59% humidity #2-99.3 and 99.3 and 62% humidity. I'll show you a photo of where I have the 2 accurites....

Do they sound ok now and look ok where I have them? If not, please let me know. should the WW be up higher too? Its on the bottom.

The IN reading is the temp from the main body. The OUT reading is the probe.

Those thermometer combos are made for you to put the probe 'outside' and be able to read the temps from the inside. Very easy to get mixed up.

99.3 - 100.2 is a good temp for forced air at the top of the eggs.

oh my- what a dummie! Thank you so much. I'll prolly still get confused, but I'll just remember it like that-the probe is to put outside to read the outside temps...duh. So if it continues like that I'm ok? Should I be concerned with the 97.7 reading? Not sure why its that low when the other one is 99.3 inside and outside.I realize they may be a tiny bit off, so I'll avg the 2 values......Thanks again MP...

Your temps are good Lisa. Ignore the 97 and if I were you, I'd stick with the thermometer showing two consistent numbers. There are occasional fluctuations, but around 99-100 is fine in that bator and you'll do well.

Thanks Jody. I really hope so! I feel almost like an expectant mother, but so glad its eggs and not a pregnancy! I'm too old for that again. My 13 yr old son just had a "Baby think it over" doll home from school for 1 night...and it woke me up and kept me awake 3 different times during the night. Needless to say, I was glad to see that doll go back to school.
Hope these babies do well.

How do I know how often to add water? Just when the humidity dips down below 58-60%? Or regularly? I also have a problem actually seeing the C section from up above the top, to under the turner to where it is...the directions for the 1588 say only to add water to the C section....but its just a guess when I've done it because I can't tell where it is and if there is any water in it still. Agh.

since I'm planning on getting the 1588, I'm curious, are you using the thermometer that came with it, or did you buy a different one to use?

I have 2 Accurite thermometer/hydrometers in it and they both say different values for temp and humidity. It is frustrating.

I took a red marker and drew around all the sections for water on the bottom of my plastic liner so I could see them a little better. It helps some but it is still a little hard to see water levels with the turner in there.
