All rightie, everyone, I present to you my little cockerel whose father is a pyle OEGB and whose mother is a red shouldered yokohama hen. He is thus far having the characteristics of a pyle yokohama. He has his mother's body and his father's color, it seems.

He is just beginning to grow in his saddle feathers, which are a very deep mahogany red-

Something that surprised me is the fact that he has a few black speckles on him, because neither his father nor his mother had any black whatsoever. Even the deep colored saddle feathers are far darker than any of his parents. Maybe you guys can explain this

See the black speckle in his neck?

Here, just for the heck of it, are a few pics of his comb. It has three ridges, the middle one higher than the sides. Mother's come is walnut, father's is single.

Tell me what you think of this guy.

Oh, and I forgot to add, also feel free to give him name options!

I'm not sure of the genotype of red shouldered, but pyle is I/i+. Dominant white (I) tends to be leaky.

Genetically, his mother's comb type is R/r+ P/P or R/r+ P/p+ Dad's is r+/r+ p+/p+. He inherited r+/r+ P/p+, and has a pea comb.

I typed "bump" because this thread was getting further down the list and bumping it to the top would give it a better chance of getting viewed. I wanted a few more explanations so I just bumped it to the top.

Didn't mean to be rude or anything, my apologies if I was, and thanks for the explanation!

Don't have any answers for you except to say that he is very cute and unusual.. I find that crossbreeds whether accidential or intentional can be gorgeous..
Would love to start a new breed and get it named after me....

I've got two cockerels and one pullet of this "breed", I guess the "red pyle yokohama"

Or the "chickencharmer yokohama" LOL . This guy is the prettiest because he has the longest tail and the most graceful body, but the other guy will probably grow his in due time. The pullet just looks like a normal red Pyle. Maybe I can breed them together and get more.
