New rescued chicken, breed? gender? Possible Game

She's definitely a girl, btw. Wheaten males are colored very differently!

She's probably not a Pumpkin Hulsey, those are still fairly uncommon. She is a game though, and without knowing her bloodlines, it's impossible to put an exact name on her (Hulsey, Hatch, Roundhead, Sweater, etc), but she looks like some variety of American Game. Even the hens of the game breeds are aggressive. Some breeders have to keep the hens separated the same as the roosters or they will hurt each other. The two I had got along fine with each other (hatchmate sisters) but they would pick fights with the other hens. My two game hens free ranged full time, and they'd go up to the run fence and tease the other birds into a fight through the fence, then once the others were all riled up, the game hens would just leave.

That longer, fanned tail is typical of game hens as well.

Pumpkin Hulsey aren't that rare really, but good pumpkin Hulsey can be quite rare. I agree she is a Wheaten American game hen. That is all you can safely call her, attaching any strain name such as Hatch, Kelso, Roundhead, Radio, etc, etc. Would be misleading especially when one doesn't know what she is. Only the breeder of the fowl, if them, would know what they are.

In example that it would be wrong to place a name tag for a strain on her is as follows.
A bird taken from Google, and not my bird. I wanted to use mine, but only have a video of him.

My bird.

They both look similar probably to someone who has observed gamefowl but may not be completely versed in them. The above cock is a Lacy Roundhead, does that mean the below (my bird) is a Lacy Roundhead American Game?

Actually, my bird is 1/4 Radio, 1/4 Morgan, Whitehackle 1/4 Doc Robinson Hatch, and 1/4 Shelton Roundhead. It would be wrong of someone who didn't know the breeding to buy my bird and call him a Lacy when he doesn't carry any Lacy blood to my knowledge.

Like I said in an earlier post, she could also be Spanish Game blood. I had many that looked just like her in my Spanish breeding days. Probably American, but ya just don`t know for sure unless ya know the breeder. Doesn`t make any difference in this case. Nice game hen.......Pop
