The Rhode Island Chicks I had shipped died, It was pretty upsetting so I got some Rhode Island Red Pullets from a local small farmer. He hatches the fertilized eggs and sells the chicks. He also has milk cows and raises orphan calves. The calves are from Dairy Farms - the cow gets pregnant and they dont want the baby calf to take the mother's milk so they sell it to people like this guy. He does not have enough cows for it to be profitable to sell the milk so he raises the calf and sells it. I was really curious if made a living selling chickens and cows or if he had a job too but I did not have the nerve to ask him. ha ha

The pullets are out in the chicken coop.

The chicks seem to be doing well. I take a worm or bug and drop it in the brooder. One of the chicks grabs it and they others chase the chick and they run all over the brooder unit the chick can eat it or she drops it and someone else gets it and they chase that chick. It sounds silly but it is pretty hilarious.
