New roof being installed at my house-worry about stress or injury to my birds!

Yes, walk the perimeter for nails each day the roofers are there. Nails seem to appear everywhere. Don't wanna step on them, don't want chickens to eat them, don't want a flat tire on your car or bike!

3 months! Yowzer! I bet having your roo crowing all the time helped them speed up the process a bit Glad most of the super heavy machinery has gone...

I will be cleaning up as much as I can as soon as they leave for the day.

Under normal circumstances, whatever that is anymore, this neighborhood is super quiet. It’s a dead end street and most of the neighbors are very well quiet.

Well at least you have that peace and quiet to look forward to when the construction is over with! We are building a house and will have 5 acres to play with when it's done! I am looking forward to not having to deal with orchard workers, equipment, chemicals, etc. I think the chickens will be much happier too.

The chickens are spread out all over the place now. The roofers are starting to throw staples and all kind of detritus everywhere. I've been going out and finding them periodically and helping them find the water and food I placed for them.

I had my roof done May 2018. I am STILL finding nails. I have been over the entire yard a bunch of times with a garage magnet too.

Definitely do not want random nails EVERYWHERE.

Nails!!! Bad news for everyone! The roofers should have a big magnet on wheels; ask them to use it, and leave it for you to use every day when they leave. It would have been better to have them tarp everything off first (they did here) but too late now for you. Use that big magnet!

Ugh. Yeah. Well my landlord got 5 quotes from actual roofers, and he ended up not hiring any of them. He hired non-roofers to do the work--these are guys who work in the orchard usually, and they don't seem to be acting like this is a job they are familiar with at all. Oh well...
