You will not believe this. While I was gone camping this weekend, someone put 2 roosters in my chicken house. They are RI reds one is old and one is about 1-2 years old.
They have pinkish scaly bumpy legs and I think that their legs hurt them. I have seen this or something like it on parekets. I am going to kill them but they have been with my flock for 2 days. Now I am worried about my flock. Is there something that I can do to keep my chickens well??? Thanks Lisa

Scaly leg mites. For those two roostere, you could use an old toothbrush and scrub the legs by dipping in any veg oil. Then coat the legs with oil or vaseline. Some put invermectin on them, too. Regarding your birds, I'd be more concerned about respiratory illness than the mites passing on, but a leg check or good oil coating may be good for yours as a preemptive strike. I'd get them away from your birds now.
