IM GETTING NEW ROOSTER ABOUT 4 MONTHS OLD. HE IS GOING IN WITH A ALREADY ESTABLISHED FLOCK OF HENS. IM WONDERING HOW LONG SHOUD I KEEP THEM IN THE COOP BEFORE LETTING THEM OUT TO FREE RANGE?

It’s advised that you quarantine the rooster for about 2-4 weeks just to make sure that he doesn’t have any diseases that could pass to your flock. Where is the rooster coming from?
HE IS COMING FROM A FREIND UP THE ROAD

How old is your established flock?
Could make a big difference in how he is integrated.

FYI.....semantics, maybe, but can be important communication terms when discussing chicken behavior.
Female chickens are called pullets until one year of age, then they are called hens.
Male chickens are called cockerels until one year of age, then they are called cocks(or cockbirds or roosters).
Age in weeks or months is always a good thing to note.

Well I got the rooster last night and now he is in a small coop close to the big coop where my free range rir chickens live. Maybe he will get used to seeing them and then when I actually put him with them it will be a lot easier
