New Run and coop

Quote:
NO WAY!!! 3x7 = 21' of floor space, if it were all floor, which would give room for 5 birds, at the most. You have plenty in there.

oh the other coop was 1/4 of that and the 4 lived in there very happy

They look like they are all from the same clutch perhaps or they all came to you at the same time perhaps. If you start to add new girls to the existing you may run into issues. You could try to add more but chickens can be mean and stress can cause ilness. If they are supplying you with all the (or most of) eggs you need maybe you could live with the four? Or start again with another coop for a new group of chickies! Dimensions and numbers are but a guideline to go on so you can try and you may succeed. Good luck!

I don't think it hurts to try. You have a decent enough set up that you can run a wire divider down the middle and have them get to know each other for a couple of weeks that way. But remember to use Bio security measures for 30 days prior, keeping them away from one another until you know that they are healthy to introduce through the wire. Very important!

Yeah we were thinking of keeping them in the old coop first, then after a week or so leaving them roam the garden together, then when we think they are ok then add them in the same run, then the coop.

Sounds like a great plan!! My girls are all very quiet and friendly and the last two I added slowly and had no problem!

Have fun and would love to hear how it goes! Signing off for now

They will be staying in the old coop for a week or so untill we know they are ok. Then they can go and meet the others in the garden and see how they get on.
