Hi friends!
New Pee Dee region member here, although I have used this forum for info numerous times, over the last few years.
I started my backyard chicken adventure sometime in 2016. I was gifted a TSC brand coop and four bantam chickens. I added a run, so they could enjoy more room. I eventually built a 10x16 covered enclosure. The enclosure is two 8x10 areas, under a single roof.
Today, I have eight Rhode Island reds and two Eggers in the left side, and 10 quail in the right side. Yep, I've started hatching quail.
I was gifted six quail. Three were males, the others were female. I gave two of the males away, and so far, two of my hens have died. I think they were old when I got them, but I have successfully hatched 15 chicks from the originals. Eight are in a hutch that I recently built and put inside the 8x10 enclosure, and the latest ones (7) are in the house. They are two weeks old. I also have 10 eggs in the incubator, with about nine days to go.
Soooooo, all that to say, hello, and I'm hoping I can lean on y'all for help, because I still consider myself a novice. I'll happily share any of the things I've picked up over the years.
The enclosure.
