I've recently jumped onto the bantam silkie band wagon by adopting 4 pullets. Two of them (both have white coloration) have eyes that crust over rather quick and had nasal discharge. Currently I've cleaned off their eyes and set them up in a quarantine cage but one is now coughing/sneezing and has labored breathing whereas the other is moving about like normal. I'll attach photos as need be but I've really encountered this before and I am rather worried about them.

If you got all of them from the same place i would keep them ALL away from my birds that i already had. Keep the two in quarrantine and have the other two in another spot. They may have whatever the others have and just not showin it yet. Or maybe not. But better to be safe than sorry

Fluids are critical. I agree keep them separated and warm. The tricky thing with respiratory issues is you can’t do much except supportive care if it is viral. Antibiotics can help with bacterial (sometimes secondary) infections. Depending on how bad the crusty eyes are, you can rinse them with sterile saline. You can also get ophthalmic ointment or drops (?) at the feed store. Sone people swear by treating eye infections with colloidal silver, but I don’t kniw much about that.

Thanks for the quick responses! I've finished separating them inot cages and gave them and put in saline drops. Let's hope these little ones make it through the night!:fl

Morning Update they made it through the night symptoms are roughly the same but they're more inclined to eat. Hopefully they just need some TLC to pull through whatever this is.

Day 3 and they seem to be staying about the same condition wise. The one with respiratory problems seems to be getting lighter despite it trying to eat
