New small coop

Aloha! My chickies are just over a week old. I live in Hawaii where the outside temp is over 80+ degrees. Can I introduce them to the new empty coop while I clean their brooder? The temp inside the coop is a bit higher because of the sun…. I don’t plan on keeping them there. Just need a safe place for them while cleaning.

Welcome to BYC. Try it! If they look cold, put them in a box while you clean the brooder.

At a week old they can easily handle being out in an 80 degree coop for a while.

Quick update, they loved it! No huddling together in a corner for warmth. They were curious and really enjoyed their little field trip. I think I will take them out for an hour everyday so they can explore their coop and get comfortable before it becomes a permanent residence. Thank you!
