If it crows we change the name. Milli still gets Atlas, we know that is a boy dagnamit.

Milli I am so sorry...you have had a bad year, mine has been slightly better but just.

I can hardly wait to get Atlas! I have some Silkie-Xs and some EEs that are just about his age now; they should do well together. And you bet I'll be looking for some black or BBS Orps so he can have a lady friend by the time he's old enough. Though from what I hear about him crowing, he'll probably be dancing for the ladies in the pen next door within a week of him getting here.

Thank you! I suspect that one is going to really show her/his Silver Ameraucana background once (s)he feathers out completely! The Silkie-X next to him is going to be lovely; (s)he has five distinct toes on each foot and great skin color. She'll be in the BBS Silkie pen once grown. There are the other two Ameraucana-X-Buff Orps, one Black Rosecomb (far left) and an odd little Silkie-X hiding in the top corner. I'm always amazed at the variety of colors exhibited by Easter Eggers.

The blacks and the splash turned 5 weeks old yesterday and the blue girl is 4 days behind those, so she's over 4 weeks. I believe both blacks are males now. Atlas crowed in the brooder, but the other black, formerly known as Venus, has surpassed Atlas in size and has pink wattles and comb, even though he feathered out fast like a pullet and had me fooled. Darn Orpingtons, they're never as easy as my Barred Rocks!

They were out today with "Uncle" Zane supervising. Ladyhawk, the first picture is Atlas. Second one is the chick formerly known as Venus.

They are pretty little things. They were so happy to get out of that brooder! It's been so wet lately from the remnants of that hurricane that they couldn't get out, but today, they were in heaven. LH's visit had to be postponed until October, not sure if you knew that, Milli. Her doc said no way she could come down here till then, but one of these boys is yours, don't worry about that!

That sounds good; I love heading up the Appalachian foothills in October. I've picked several spots where LH and I can rendezvous; we'll pick a spot when the trip gets closer. By then, the chicks I have near his age will be in the adolescent pen and he'll have several pullets he can dance for. That will be fascinating!

The splash and two blacks are almost 7 weeks old now with the blue pullet four days younger. Here are a few pics for you. I'm uploading some video of the two black males sparring and will post them in a few minutes when they're done. Zeus turned into a Zena for sure, as you can see. The blue one is Isis. Atlas is definitely Atlas but the huge black one is no longer named Venus after sprouting that huge red comb and wattles in spite of feathering out like a pullet.
