New Super Coop!

For better ventilation I agree with @aart, use hardware cloth on the sofits. You will loose a lot of air flow (ventilation) if you put up regular soffit vents.

Just a quick update. I installed the siding and roof sheathing today. I also started building the door - it will be a dutch door. Tomorrow I plan to shingle the roof and get started on the corner trim and fascia. I'm also installing a ledger board in the front in preparation for the front covered porch. Here it is as of tonight: 20180522_182250_HDR.jpg

I decided to use hardware cloth instead of soffits, and will also be installing some vents in the sides. Today all I managed to do was get the tar paper on and about 1/3 of the shingles. It got SUPER hot on the roof today. The roof is a 5.5:12 pitch and is a little slippery. I decided to use some roof jacks to finish up the last 6 feet or so. I really really don't want to fall off the roof...

I have tomorrow after work and perhaps Saturday after work, then things stall until my days off on Tues and Wed. Working 2 jobs doesn't leave me a lot of time. The current plan has me finishing the roof by Tuesday and getting all the trim painted. Then I should be able to wrap it up on my days off; then start on the run.

The Silkies that are out in the temporary coop have been watching the build and offering advice..

We had numerous inspections & plenty of opinions on our build a few months ago.
Isn't it amazing when your doing something they always have to check it out, to make sure your doing things correctly.
Your chickens thank you, for using HWC instead of soffit vents.
