hi, I'm Patricia, new to this area and new to Arkansas, and very new at owning a donkey(LJ) and a pony(Doc Holiday- Doc for short), also 9 chickens 1 rooster, 2 pigmy goats (Pete and Waffles). My daughter surprised me with my donkey that she bought at a sell that she went to with a friend, remind you she has never been to a sell before, well a sell later, ha ha, we now have a pony and a donkey, lol. We love them both dearly, the only problem we are having with LJ (donkey) is that we can't touch him, what we found out about him, is that he stayed in a pasture with the cows and never really had any human contact, except for loading him up for the sell. I'm wanting so much to pet him, he's gotten better by eating out of the bucket we hold. any suggestions on how to win his trust? also his hoofs look a mess, our neighbor said by the looks of his hind leg, looks like someone put a chain on him......so cruel! any advice is welcome, I need to know what to feed him through this coming winter, we noticed when we moved here in February it was snow and ice, anything special we need to do for him and our pony. thanks so much for advice in advance.

Can anyone tell me wot breeds of chickens i have as im new to all this pic in profile?

looks like buff orpingtons but, you can also post photos at "what breed or gender is this.

ps maybe you need to have a blacksmith/or vet take a look at his feet. Bad feet can cause him a whole lot of misery and maybe lameness. I think a pony would also need a hoof trim now and then.
