New ti BYC

I have a rooster . Hes been part of my family for almost 2 years. I dont know what kind he is. His name is Cluckie. he loves my cats. I have been trying to house train him...not much luck,,,,help!

Glad you could join the flock! I'm afraid I've never tried to house train any of my Roos before so can't be of much help to you in that. I can point you in the right direction for help on identifying his breed. I know people use chicken diapers for their house chickens...maybe Cluckie would wear a diaper?

Do you plan to keep him in the house? If so you can get a lot of suggestions and advice from "people with house chickens," thread. Put that in the search box and it will pop up.

My friend has 3 bantam house chickens and finds it much easier to clean up after them as it occurs, rather than the hassle of diaper on, diaper off repeat a million times a day.

Do you give him some outdoor time in a pen so he gets fresh air and can mess outside instead? In the house you could have him sleep in a crate on pine shavings etc. that would be easier to clean up daily.
