https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/422411/ancona-ducksI have what appears to be an entirely white duckling on picture 2 is there a possibility that its a lavender ancona?
Your ducklings are adorable, I know nothing about color but here is a thread on them maybe it will help..
The breeder said that she had one female that was chocolate and the Drake and the other females were black. However I got a lot of chocolates and some blacks.
What is angel wing? I couldn't feed the ducks Purina layer pellets and sport fish feed or some fermented seeds?
How are Cayugas for laying? I might be looking for some Cayugas soon would you know anyone that might be selling eggs? What are their egg color? I hear they lay black- dark gray eggs.
Reading through this thread... you would need to know which duck your eggs came from. If they came from one of the black ducks, and the only drake is black, then I don't think yours could be sex-linked. The Cayugas haven't started laying yet, probably wont until next spring I guess. I have one runner hen and another unknown layer right now. I've never been able to catch the unknown one on the nest... Its smaller and more round than the runner egg, but the same shade of green.
The Ancona ducklings are GORGEOUS!!!
one of my 6 is all white... looks like a small Pekin.
I will post more pictures soon. You will not have sexlinked ducklings if the drake was black. You need a chocolate drake covering black hens in order to get chocolate female and black male ducklings (that carry chocolate).
The heavily marked one is a tri color. Likely penciled.
The one with eye stripes- likely a cross breed. Pure anconas will not produce offspring with this trait.
Do you have better pics of the yellow one? Is there any color at all? Usually you can see it best under the eyes on the light colored ones. And what color feet spots does it have?
Anconas can end up solid white (undesirable in this breed as they show no color). Lavenders and silvers tend to be very faintly colored as babies so can easily be mistaken for whites until they get their juvenile and even adult feathers. But usually leg color will indicate this as the color birds will usually have colored legs or spots and the white anconas will not
I am located in Shelton Washington. What part of Washington are you located in?My all white Ancona looks like a small Pekin. That is what I meant. Where do you live? In the spring when I know for sure I'm getting Cayuga eggs, I'll sell you some. As of today, no eggs at all. I've been getting 2 a day but none today.
