I have been raising chickens for about 10 years. I sold eggs for a while but now only keep enough for our own use. We raise Cornish Rocks for meat birds. I love having them in my freezer. Right now we have 5 layers, 23 broilers, and 3 guinea hens. I know some people don't like guineas but they kill snakes and I hate snakes! My husband and I are retired but not retired! Besides our hobby farm (we just had a calf born this morning), we run a non-profit that does Missionary work. We are retired Missionaries and mentor younger missionaries. We are extremely active in our Bilingual Church. My chickens have a disease and as I searched the web I stumbled on Back Yard Chicken Website! I am so glad I did. Now I can depend on the community to help me.
