(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I received my first chickens March 30, 2018.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I started with 19, but within a week I lost 6 and now I have 13. (even though I have been a farmers wife for 38 years) I was not prepared for the deaths. I think When one chick dies the rest must jump on top of it, because each time they ended up flat as a pancake!

(3) What breeds do you have? I now have 1 Gold laced Wyandotte, 1 light Brahma, 4 Easter Eggers, 1 Ameraucana, 3 Olive Eggers, 3 Welssummer. I think maybe 1 of my Easter Eggers is a rooster! :(

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? My cousin who is also going to start having chickens told me about this site and it seems to be very helpful!

(6) My husband is a farmer. We raise dry land wheat and over the years we have raised cattle and had many different animals, but this is the first time we have had chickens. Our three children are grown and we have 2 grandchildren. I work in a school district 60 miles away from home. I am a SLPA and implement speech therapy with grades between K-5th.

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/) and (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...essential-supplies-and-how-to-use-them.64830/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, if you're into gardening, feel free to join this years SEED SWAP (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/seed-swap.1220129/)
