I'm glad you joined us!

I'd be sure to check out the Learning Center that Michael O'Shay linked to. Also, feel free to ask any specific questions that you have! We'll be happy to help as much as we can.

Thanks for joining BYC!

You may not know it yet, but this site will become your best friend and is a wealth of information.

Everyone has given you the best suggestions on where to start, but I also want to add that another thing: Do your homework on maintaining chicken health & preventing diseases. Better to know now than later when you're experiencing it! You don't just bring a newborn babe home without knowing how to properly care for it, and how to tell if it's sick or if somethings wrong, right? & Know that all hatcheries and sources to buy your chickens from -- are not created equal.

It will help you know what to look for and be aware of when you decide to purchase your own chooks. Because even though you have a noble beginner's aspiration of having only a couple of hens, that will not last. A frequent observation among us has been the similarities between chickens and potato chips

You can never have just one...or two....or three! Though I would recommend at least 3 if your willpower is strong. Chickens are flock animals and enjoy each others company.
Remember to take frequent breaks to research all the different breeds.

There are so many. And finding the breed you want is the best part!!! It's why we're all so addicted lol.

Research, research, research is key!
