Hello, I would like to learn more about chickens/hens and coops before I purchase them.
I live in NM, where we have typical desert climates. Hot summers and cold winters with snow. I have about 100 sq.ft space for the coop and run. I am mainly looking for 4-5 chickens in the backyard.
I am mainly looking for hens that have a quiet friendly disposition. Any suggestions for good hatcheries? or breeds that do well together?
 
Yes I have been researching about BYC for a long time. They have such great info. I finally decided to give it some serious thought and get chickens.
We have a big vegetable and herb garden, but the only thing missing I believe are chickens!
We also have a very docile older kitty!
