New to Backyard Chickens

New to the site but I have been lurking for awhile. I have 8 20 week old pullets, two just started laying which was very exciting obviously. Then last night when I went to check on them I found one adult rat and two juvenile rats in the coop. Needless to say I have declared all out war and will take no prisoners, .

I am new to raising chickens but hope I can contribute to the board that has already taught me so much about poultry. Thanks a bunch. Here is a pic of a few of the girls about a month ago. Three Buff Orpington, three Speckled Sussex, and two Welsummers make up my flock.

I have some extra 1/2 hardware cloth which I will use to make the the house is secured up. It might sound weird but seeing those things in with my chickens fired me up and I need to kill some rats!
