Good Morning. I am new to Backyard Chickens, but I have looked through before for advice on things. I have had my chickens for a little over a year and added more this year. I hope to be able to get advice and gain more skills through friendships on here

I don't really know what else to say; which is highly unusual for me not to have something to say! Have a Great Weekend!

Hi all,
It's really great to be here! I read through all of the reading and figured I would do my best to fill out the "template" for new members, so here goes...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
-- Oh yes, I am JUST HATCHED! We got our chickens in early April (this year 2014)
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
-- We have 8 chickens
(3) What breeds do you have?
-- 3 Buff Orpingtons
-- 2 Barred Rock
-- 2 "Dark" Ameraucana*
-- 1 "Light" Ameraucana*
*I am calling them Ameraucana. The farmer told me "Araucana," but I don't think they are conforming to the breed. so I am guessing they may be Ameraucana.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
-- I was looking for information on building a coop, building a run, taking care of chicks, what chickens can eat, and all the other stuff people generally look for. I came across BYC in a Google search.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
-- I also like gardening. I hear this plays in pretty well with chickens... free compost anyone?
(6) anything else you'd like to share
-- I am really thrilled that the chooks seem to be coming along well. I am looking forward to making new friends here. Thank you all who have already posted tons of great information!

So, I didn't follow the template on my first post, but I thought maybe I would reply again ;) since I saw that others have done that.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
-- Not exactly. I got my first chickens as an adult owner last year (Spring 2013), but we had them when I was a kid.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
-- We have 9 laying hens from last year and 8 young ones from this year that will be introduced to the ladies soon. I also, have more chicks arriving next week and I can't wait.
(3) What breeds do you have?
-- My current laying hens consist of (4 Rhode Island Reds, 3 Barred Rock & 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes). My youngsters consist of (3 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Golden Laced Wyandottes, 1 Brahma, 1 Silkie/Polish Cross & 1 Wellsummer). I hatched the Silkie/Polish & Wellsummer in the incubator.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
-- Just looking around online and my cousin was probably tired of all of my silly chicken questions, so she told me there was good information on here ;)
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
-- Gardening, crocheting, playing in the mud in our Samurai, riding our Harley, camping (take our dog on all camping adventures), we just like to be outside in our free time.
Have a Great Weekend everyone!
