This is my first year actually trying to breed both turkeys and ducks, I have 1 tom and 2 hens. I only know from research their mating activities and not familiar with sounds they make. All are coming up to a year old come spring/summer. I was out doing my feed and water chores in the barn and noticed what is strange behavior from my Tom. He has been strutting for about 2 months. Today he is very actively following around the small hen whilst seemingly being hot on her tail so to speak. The larger hen goes up on the roost if he comes near her making advances. But he is making a sound I have never heard before. Because its hard to describe a sound I attached a video of it.
Anybody else heard this call or sound from their Toms? Being mid March and still many cold nights well below freezing I thought maybe May to watch for eggs or sooner? On the east coast of Canada we still get very unstable weather.
Here is a video of that!
