I have four adult red hens and two adults silkie roos. Never wanted the roos for breeding, just pets. Last night we thought we lost a red hen and finally found her on the goat side of the coop. ...she was sitting on 12 eggs!! She didn't wanna get off and was still there this morning so we gotfive of the eggs to candle (I youtubed it) and my 3 yr old cracked one so I figured we wpuld inspect the yold to see if they were even fertile eggs. I found the white dot but can't tell if it's a bullseye or not. She has only been sittin for probably a day or two cuz I have always seen her wirh the rest before last night. All four hens are layin eggs there cuz we have the four colors (each a different shade of cream to brown). Now is it even possible for a silkie to get at a red (nigel does the rooster dance ALL the time). I know you are probably thinkin how I missed this nest with twelve eggs but we were only gettin 3-4 with five layers so when I sold my other one I figured 2-3 was what we should get and we were. Apparently we should be getting four a day!! Anyhow, here's the yolk in question...
