Hello, I am in centerville, MN. I just finally convinced my mom to let me get chickens, but the permit here only allows 4 hens and no roosters. I now have 2 RIRs and 2 black australorps. They are almost 11 weeks old. I am still working on moving to the country, so hopefully that happens soon and we can get a lot more chickens!!

Welcome to BYC! Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed chicken. They are hardy, calm, gentle birds that lay lots of large, brown eggs. Good luck with your flock.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Congrats on being allowed to keep chickens! Your mom is so kind. :)

I hope you can move to the country soon so you can expand on your flock.

Welcome to our flock!

I hope your hens are doing well. I am the one that changed the ordinance in Centerville. I am looking to expand the number of hens allowed. I was told to wait a few years for the city to see if things are going ok since this is a newer ordinance. I am also going to see if they can lower the permit fee. I think they have the permit at 75 is to keep people from getting chickens that don’t take it seriously. Good luck.
