New to BYC and chickens

Welcome to BYC, and congratulations on getting your chickens. What kind of chickens did you get?

Thank you Michael ;-) We have two leghorns, 1 barred rock, 1 colombian rock, 1 buff orpington and 1 that is still up for debate it seems (black sex-link or rhode island red). Also, 7 chicks of undetermined breed at this point. 4 white and 3 black -- suspected colombian and barred rock.

I love them all! ;-)

You have some good layers. Your "Black Sex Link or Rhode Island Red" should be easy to tell. If it's a Black Sex Link hen, it will be primarily black with some reddish or brownish feathers in the neck area. If it's a RIR, it will be a rust or mahogany red with black feathers in the tail. If you would like your 7 chicks of undetermined origin identified, just post their photos and hopefully we can help you ID them. Good luck with your flock.

Thanks Michael -- I have a photo posted in another thread -- I'll put up photos of the chicks once I can get a clear shot of them ;-)
