New to BYC and chickens

Ordered my chicks from Meyers Hatchery. Should be here wednesday. Got the brooder built and waiting impatiently. Ordered 2 Barred Rock, 2 Australorps, 2 RIR, and 2 white Leghorns. Expecting to all be alive when they get here. Hope i am not disappointed. May should have ordered a few extra just in case. Oh well. Will find out soon. Learn by your mistakes. My coop is in the works, 8x16 with a 4x8 house. should be plenty of room. Wish me luck

Good luck with your chicks!! Remember to check for pasty butt when they first arrive, give them water with either probiotics or ACV and keep them warm. The temp should be lowed 5 degrees each week.

Welcome to BYC! I've never ordered from Meyer Hatchery, but I'm surprised they will ship that few chicks. Most hatcheries ship a minimum of 15, and some 25. You have a good mix of layers there. Black Australorps are my favorite; very hardy, calm and gentle, and excellent layers of large, brown eggs. Good luck in receiving your shipment of chicks.
