New to BYC and Chickens!

hi guineaczech and welcome to you also. It does seem like a friendly place to share our obsession and love of chickens and learn
and a lot about them along the way.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a beautiful flock. X2 on what Mountain Peeps said about 1 rooster for every 10 hens. The only really good reason to have a rooster in your flock is if you want fertilized eggs for hatching. Roosters will fight with each other, and an excess of them can be very hard on your hens physically; over-breeding them, injuring them with their beaks and spurs, and battering them. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I'm anxiously awaiting a friend of mine to bring me some silkies with him all the way from Georgia. Should be getting them some time this week and then I will probably flood you guys with pictures (when I find the appropriate place of course). I also have a question about free ranging but will ask that in another thread.

@ DrumstickDiva Thank you, I do rather like that picture also lol.

Welcome! I'm new to the group too. I love your flock, it's a nice variety! I just got into chickens a year and a half ago and I love it! You're right, they are so entertaining to watch!
