New to BYC and incubating and need help ...

65% is ok. Don't go any lower than this. But it can go as high as 70% too. Try to get it in between these two %'s just to make sure.

So glad you are getting control of your bator! The R-Com's have minds of their own. LOL But I have had great luck with them.

Thank you once again TwoCrows and members for all your advice and encouragement. Less than two days to go to hatch - due date Wednesday!!

Hello members, anxious mother here. It is now Day 20 and I have movement within the ranks! I definitely have three pipped eggs and chirping. There is loud chirping coming from one of the eggs, but not the one that has the biggest hole. They seem to be pipping underneath where the eggs are resting - not on the top. Should I turn them?

No, do not turn the eggs at all. Chirping in the eggs is normal. They will all call to each other and this stimulates pipping and zipping out.

How egg-citing!!! Just let them be. They can pip and sit like this for 24+ hours. So just be patient and wait. Make sure your vents are wide open and humidity is up around 65% or 70%.

Keep us posted!!

Thanks again TwoCrows. It's very nerve racking isn't it? Will they be all right to hatch if they are sitting on their hole? I feel so helpless, I can hear them chirping in distress and want to help - I know, leave them alone!! I will keep busy somewhere else in the house and be patient! Isn't nature wonderful?

Yes, I know how anxious you are right now!! LOL And they are not in distress like you think they are. The process of hatching can take a day or two. It is ok if the eggs are on their breathing holes. If they need more air, they will expand on that hole. Don't open the lid as you can dry them out and kill them. They sound like they are doing exactly as they should. They are busy absorbing the last of the yolks and detaching from the inside of the shells. But they should be hatching very soon! Once you hear the peeping, the zipping is not too far off. As long as your humidity stays up, and they have good oxygen coming in the vents, you should have a good hatch from the sounds of the peeping!!

Keep us posted! Now I am nervous for you!

Thanks TwoCrows. It's so good to know there is a life-line out there! I will let you know as soon as I see the first fluffy little bundle emerge from its shell!
