Hello! I am a new momma to four SUPER cute and sleepy little gals!
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens! But have done a lot of research (spiraling, rabbit hole, you know! lol). Just picked up my girls from our local Mountain Feed today!!!! An hour ago!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Four!
(3) What breeds do you have?
I am not sure which is which yet.. but I have an Ameraucana, Buff Orpington, and either a Welsummer or Danish Brown
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love animals and caring for them! And EGGS! I love the fresh eggs! I now have the space in my yard for them and am very excited.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Staying home! LOL Attempting to garden (even though I am pretty sure all I do is pull weeds), cook, bake (sourdough!). Love spending ALL my time with my husband in our beautiful home.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains and absolutely love it. I am an Administrative Assistant at a school district. My husband and I recently bought our first house (1.5 years ago) and are really enjoying it. We spend most of our time together (we love to have a good time!) and enjoy working on projects around the house. I am a "putzer" I am constantly putzing around my house and I love it. I cook, bake, kombucha, sourdough. I attempt to crochet (not going well), LOVE my houseplants. We have two dogs, Charlie (yorkie, 12 y/o next month) is the LOVE of my life and quite naughty. And Jack (chihuahua, 10 y/o) also quite naughty! but just oh, so cute! Although I will not be introducing my dogs to the chicks yet..maybe after first week (I will have to find threads with some advice!). I am excited for our chicken adventure!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I had been on these forums during my research. Then a neighbor suggested I join. Today I was reading some of the BYC threads and ya'll are SO NICE to everyone and that is what made me finally join.
