Good evening! Me and my family (of 6) just here recently became "Chicken people" we are still learning but I love it already. We visited a local USDA cert handler farm and had a walk through and she taught us what vital things we needed to know to get started. We left with 13 fertile eggs (6 the kids picked that day from the hen house) and she lent us her incubator (she was super nice). We went home and set the eggs and started building the coop and hen house out back. =) I started handling them myself after they dried off in the incubator and started letting the kiddies hold them a week or so later. We go hang out in the coop with them all the time and I have to admit, I never saw how someone could get attached to a chicken...they seem so impersonal.... but now... now I totally get it! I love my little cluckers! Unfortunately we have a couple roosters that we wont be able to keep (we live within city limits) and I am SO scared for the day I have to let them go. I am so attached. I also am scared of who they will go to. I would be enraged if I found out they were fought. =// If anyone knows of a rescue or farm or person who would take them and take care of them PLEASE let me know. I don't want them to go until they have too but it will be soon, they are growing SO fast! just over night I can tell a huge difference. It is crazy! =D glad my kids don't grow that fast. HAHA!

Anyhow..... Just saying hello and I am sure that you will be hearing from me. I have MANY questions. I have already been on here many times just scouring the threads, reading. =D

Welcome to BYC! Iwiw60 and TwoCrows have given you some good links. I hope you find a good home for your roosters. What kind of chickens do you have?
