Hi BYC!
My name is Desiree. I'm 27 and I'm from Colorado.
On Thursday I got my first quail. We started out with ten 3 day old chicks and we sadly lost 2. We had a three hour drive back home which I think took its toll on one of the chicks while the other one was lost due to not being able to get the temperature right. First our thermometer was messed and then our lamp was too hot. We finally got the brooder just right and the remaining chicks have been thriving. One does have a eye infection which we are treating and cleaning twice a day. He seems fine otherwise. We have three brown, four goldens and one Texas A&M or English White (not sure what the difference is.)
I raise rats, mice and african soft furred rats for food for my raw fed animals. I decided to add quail for variety and I can enjoy them as well.
The animals that own me are 3 dogs, 4 ferrets, a cat (which actually belongs to my sister), 2 hedgehogs and a crested gecko.
