Cochins (or bantam Cochins) are incredible! There has never been a friendlier bird.
Ameraucanas are awesome too and lay fun colored eggs, they can be hard to get your hands on though.
Easter Eggers, (often sold as “Americana,” “Ameracauna,” or even “Ameraucana”) are a great alternative. They are mixed breeds. Most common Easter Eggers come from Ameraucana background so have the fluffy cheeks and lay pretty eggs.
