I'm always on this site learning about chickens and I finally created an account.
Just last year I knew nothing about chickens. I knew of only rhode island reds, leghorns, and silkies. My girlfriend bought me two silkies. We hatched one of the eggs . Ended up being a roo. Shortly after we lost the hen to a fox. So I bought two chicks from a local feed store supposed to be female. I never heard of the breed before. So with a little research found out they were salmon faverolles. Instantly fell in love. One was a male. So I got more hens . Two EEers and one RIR. Well my coop wasn't strong enough. Two neighborhood dogs busted through my coop and killed them all. It was a mess
But it's been about six months now and I've been researching which chickens I want to get now. I primarily wanted eggs. But I also don't want to buy new chicks every few years so I decided to breed. If I'm breeding I'm going to have culls . I know I won't be able to sell all the culls so the chicken breed needs to be a meat bird too. If I have a breed I want it to be pretty enough to show too. I love the chickens with beards so that narrows it down.
So I'm asking for input on which breed would be good . I understand I wrote a lot so I will summarize...
*Dual purpose
*Showable
*Bearded
