Hello. I am a first time new to raising chicks. I have 5 breeds. Goldens, Welsummers, Iowa Blues, Delawars, & Americaunas. They are now 3 weeks old, being raised in a climate controlled room, (maybe getting babied a bit), and all seem healthy and happy. Question: I have one Americauna that is smaller than the rest, sleeps a lot, & far more than all of the others, and acts very timid with the other chicks. She is not getting picked on & they will cuddle next to her sometimes. I am thinking she is sick, but she doesn't seem to be in pain at all. Any advice please.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
It could also be that because she is not confident she is not trying too hard to get lots of food.
You can put up a screened area in the brooder so she can have access to the heat and everyone can see and hear each other. Put one chick in with her and two feed stations. This way she can eat all she wants and make a friend she can look to for support. You can try different chicks with her to see who treated her the best. I would also add some poultry nutrient booster to the food to help her catch up.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Sometimes the tiny ones are slower and yes they can be sick. As stated above, making a divider in the brooder is a good idea th give this one a chance. Definitely put in another chick for company. And if you feel she is sick, definitely post in our Emergency section as stated in a previous post.

Good luck with your chicks!
