Hi there,
I am an aspiring homesteader living in the wilds of the Yukon. I have been raising chickens and turkeys for about ten years now. I currently have two mixed flocks; the first is Columbia Rocks, Buff Brahmas and Rhode Island Reds, these birds are all just over three years old. My second flock are all young chicks of a mere eight weeks old and consist of more Columbia Rocks (love these chickens), Barred Rocks and more Rhode Island Reds. I also have a dozen turkeys who I have just moved out into the Turkeydome; a 1200 square foot mostly predator proof enclosure.
My wife and I aspire to an ever increasing level of self sufficiency and an ever decreasing reliance on conventional incomes (tough row to hoe!)
I look forward to getting to know some of you and learning from your experience.
