Bought a deserted home on 3.52 acres, with Spring here we are starting to do more outdoor projects and that means farm friends!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are not new to chickens we raised them 2 other times in town, first time we were ticketed for having chickens in city limits, later they legalized and we got them again, out of 9 we purchased 6 were males so they weren’t allowed in city limits either....
We now have a brand new flock of 14 chickens, about 5-6 weeks old and 4 ducks about 3 weeks old, and a blue healer-mini Aussie puppy for the last 3 weeks, now 9 weeks old. These are our first ducks!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 14 chickens with 4 ducks, they will have separate pens and habitats.

(3) What breeds do you have? A mix!

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

The fresh eggs and their personalities.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Baking, Scrapbooking, family activities and Anything Disney!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have 7 children, 6 are adults outside the home, who are raising our 6 grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I actually found the BYC while looking for Duck Pond ideas and have found tons of ideas for both of our feathered flocks.

I’m hoping to find some ideas on what chicken breeds would be good to raise to possibly sell chicks and eggs that will do best in my local area within mid southern Utah.
