New to BYC...

Welcome to BYC! It's great to have you.

Poor baby sure does have quite the owie, but it should heal up just fine. You could try some triple antibiotic ointment (without pain medication) to help it along. An anti-picking solution such as Pick-No-More may also help prevent any more picking.

Welcome!

Kudos to you for taking care of the little fella; he is adorable!

I hope you enjoy BYC; not only is it overflowing with lots of useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures about chickens, turkeys, duck, quail, Peas and pretty much any other feathered and non feathered friends

Thanks for the warm welcome! This is certainly an adventure so far. This little guy is a riot! (I really don't know the sex, but something tells me male...idk why.) And he is starting to get some white on his feathers.

Sometimes he holds his wings out a little bit when he lays down on me, but I've never felt like it was too hot. Hopefully I'm not missing something. He doesn't limp on that leg hardly at all anymore. And his scab still looks gnarly, but Way better than it was!

Sorry in advance for the poo photos. I want to make sure this is normal cecal poop. I have had this chick since about a week old, brought him home this thanksgiving. I change out the paper in his little indoor enclosure every day & this is the first time I've noticed one of these. I happened to be there when he did it, & it was really stinky and a different color. Went back after about 20 minutes & it doesn't stink anymore, so maybe he has before & I didn't see it. The first photo is the weird one (the little bits in his poop came from my floor, not the chick), most of his poop looks like the second photo. On occasion he has a watery poop, but not as often as normal. On medicated feed from the time I brought him home. Just started durvet vitamin electrolyte solution & vetrx in his water a couple days ago. Was putting apple cider vinegar in his water until I started the durvet, then I stopped bc I wasn't sure about mixing them. Thoughts?
