Hello,
I am new to BYC.
I have three 3 year old chickens, golden laced Wyandotte (Goldie), Buff Orpington (Sunny), and a Black Australorp (Astro).
I added 3 new chicks at the end of March this year, Speckled Sussex (Speckles), Americana-ahem...lays white eggs (Quaker), and a Wellsummer (Welly).
We needed a bigger coop for the new chickens, and its liveable, but not completely finished. No one is allowed to do anything fun until it's done!
We live in the burbs, so not a huge lot for them, but seems plenty for 6!
I have fallen hard for my little flock! And I will annoy everyone around to look at my pictures and listen to the cute things my chickens do!
I also have a Shiba Inu dog named Honey. She is pretty good around the chickens, guarding them against squirrels and bunnies! She must smell any food that comes out for the chickens, just to make sure it's not dog-worthy. Sometimes while patrolling the yard, she will run through the chickens, just to mess with them I think!
We also have bee hives. This summer we kept 2 hives and just collected honey this weekend.
