I was reading my Costco magazine and saw the article "Coop de ville" so went on-line to check it out.
I have 4 one year old Barred Rocks and live in a small town, (6000) on the central coast of California. I raised Eenie, Meenie, Miney and Moe from babies (sp?) but can't tell who is who! They have been very productive over the last 6 months laying 2-4 eggs a day. Even this winter they have continued to lay.
I'm a retired RN and a widow as of 8/16 after 50 years of marriage. I have 4 children and 6 grandchildren. After my husband died my #1 son decided I needed to raise chickens and bought me a small coop; it has been a fun experience.
