Hello, I am new. I have no birds but am planning a move soon and would like to have hens & eggs in my next home.
I know almost nothing.
I do have fond memories of my grandmother's hens and gathering eggs.I was so proud when she let me pick out the Sunday dinner hen! I then watched with grim fascination as she snatched it up wrung it, cut it, and held it upside down to show me. All in about a half a second! Wow. Vaguely remember her soaking and definitely remember how it took me hours to pluck, I was only 7 after all so hours could be a bit of a stretch
My children are grown and off to college. I currently belong to the fastest growing class of American-The Unemployed. Th husband (22 yrs) and I are busy readying the house for market (such as it is!) I daydream of a place so small that the kids won't want to come back! But land plentiful enough for gardening, playing, coops and maybe even a pig!
Thank you for having this site available. My day-dreaming (hallucinating?!) under the fumes of the slowly drying paint in, led me to google which led me here.
Welcome! And yes, I'm interested in the RIR eggs! Please let us know when you have some available!!! Julie's line really are a beautiful color and I understand the roos have a great disposition. I approached her about them in Oct. but she had already let them go to spend more time on her other projects...
