Living in the middle of Colorado, Hartsel, is the life I have always yearned for. The scenery is magnificent, air clean & fresh & water; I truly believe that this is God's country. I've been debating a small flock of chickens for some time now & my neighbor has encouraged me to get involved! I work with a wonderful Horse Rescue that also houses chickens, ducks & goats. One of our Rhode Island Red's partner died a year ago & promptly put her at the bottom of the pecking order. Then I noticed that she had an injured foot & a foot that was bent over causing her to walk on the topside of her foot. Once I saw what was happening to her in the flock, I asked if I could take her to my house & try to get her on her feet again. 2 days of vitamin & mineral water (Rooster Booster), the crooked foot was back as it should be, flat on the ground. Wasn't long before I became attached & I am so glad she came here. One of my best little pets now. She is back on her feet now although still a little crippled from the injury but thriving in my nice warm solar energy room. I recently decided to order a rooster & 4 hens to add to Chicken Little's flock. I ordered Favorelles, because they are not an aggressive bird & I didn't want her to be mistreated. She already has me wrapped around her little uninjured toe! Looking forward to my new next adventure!
