Hi everyone. I'm Gene.....I live in San Mateo California and have been hosting chickens now for 5 years or so......We have Rhode Island Red, Auracana (Americana) and a couple other breeds. The "Girls" have a coop in the back yard with a house within the coop.....they also have an outside "play" area to which the Girls go for the day except when they need to lay an egg. Happily predators have not been a major issue....(yes, raccoons are around). Only in this last year have issues of some of the girls' health sprung up. Two have died of ovarian cancer (go figure!).
The Girls bring a great amount of JOY to our lives, as well, of course, EGGS.
