1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
—I first got my chickens about 2 years ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
—I started off with 8 chickens, 2 were roosters and went to my MIL. 6 were hens. After all the cold weather this winter we had 2 hens unexpectedly pass away. 2 days in a row. We are down to 4 now
(3) What breeds do you have?
— I have 2 New Hampshire and 2 Plymouth Rock
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
— they are beautiful loving fun animals. I enjoy learning more about then and watching them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, Farming, raising my children
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
— I am a stay at home mom. My son is 8 years old. My husband is a farmer. We have 4 dogs, a Weimaraner, Great Pyrenees, And 2 border collie Australian Shepherd mixes. Also have 4 cats. We have a boer goat named George. His sister Susie passed away in the winter. We are expecting our second child in October.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found you by searching what is going on with my chickens. They have a “pasty butt” it started out as just one and now all four seem to have it some just not as bad as others. All but one are loosing there tail feathers and around there bottom and above there tail. Bought grit and been using apple cider vinegar in water and garlic powder in food. I love that chicken community! Thank you
