Hey Y’all,
We are pretty new to chickens. Bought a farm that we will not permanently occupy for several more years. At closing the farmer sent my husband home with 4 Buff Orpington chickens. We thought we were ready with a coop and pen. However, these girls are used to free ranging and want nothing to do with the coop or pen. My nicely landscaped backyard is now a wreck. My brother will begin living on the farm soon, and these free rangers are going back to the farm with him.
I will then start over with chicks that I can train to the coop. We have never done this before and have had quite the adventure so far. I’m sure we are entertainment for our neighbors. Our problem right now appears to be a broody hen.
