Hi, welcome to BYC! It's nice to meet you.Hello everyone!
My name is Hailey and I live in the country out in Montana. I am not entirely new to chickens as I have had them for about 5 years now, but I am far for knowing it all haha.
Currently I have 7 chickens (6 Australorp hens and 1 Buckeye hen) and have 6 Ameraucana's coming in May (3 Blue & 3 Splash). Previously I had Golden Comets. I have never had a rooster, but am looking to get one this year! I would love to be able to keep growing my flock and be a little more self sustaining. We also do about 25-35 meat chickens each year as well.
I have definitely turned into the crazy chicken lady and boy is chicken math a real thing lol. If I had to choose my favorite things about raising chickens, it would be the providing for my family aspect (small homesteading) and their personalities. I just love watching them.
On our "farm" we also have a Rottweiler, Australian Shepherd, one horse, one pony and we raise a few pigs in the spring/summer as well.
I appreciate all of your knowledge that you all are willing to share with me in the future!
