My baby quails. I am so attached to them, and it was a very emotional journey for me. They're so tiny and sweet. I don't think I'll be hatching any more, it took a large emotional toll tbh. If I added any more, I would just opt to buy hens. I love the falb and pearl fees so much. Someday I'd like to add a few more hens of that color variety to my flock.

Thanks! I have soo many pics of my pets, theyre my whole life. I'm currently building a really cool enclosure for my quail, right now they live inside...honestly if I had more room they'd just live inside but id like to at least build a beautiful space with plants grasses for them to play and scratch in.
My hens are Cleo, Cora and Peachy.
My roo is Hopper
My deceased quail, who was special needs, was named Cozy. That bird changed my life in so many ways. He passed about 2 weeks ago and I still cry about him. He is my profile pic.
I'm a sculptor and I love sculpting birds, I'll share some pics here!
Your sculptures are stunning! ❤️ Beautiful pictures! Thank you for sharing!

Here's a great article by @TwoCrows about housing quail that might have some tips for you. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/housing-and-feeding-your-quail.67371/

Thank you so much 🥹

This is an excellent article, I'll definitely refer back to it as I'm finishing my aviary. I have the hardwire cloth both the 1/2" and the even tinier stuff for edges and roof, and one wall will be solid wood. I live in the woods, so we've got it all out here. I'm probably going to bring them inside at night until they seem adjusted and I'm/we're all comfortable with it. Also will probably line the inside with screening to keep mosquitoes out of there too/provide a false roof. I cant wait to share pictures...it will be built like fort knox lol

You are so welcome!

Just so you're aware, if that tinier HWC is like 1/4", we have seen squirrels chew right through that, as we have a sunflower seed wild bird feeder made of it, so it's not very predator-proof. The 1/2" is made with a stronger gauge.

Ooof! That is good to know. The main parts are with the 1/2". I was planning on just using the 1/4" along seams where the wood joins and along any bottom edges to make sure snakes cant get through. The bottom will be fully lined with 1/2" hwc and then have rubber mats over that, then sand/dirt/plants. My plan is to also have 2x6 footing boards making like a 20" high border around the entire thing, for stability and so predators cant just gaze in and frighten them....those are the parts that will likely be fully lined with the 1/4".
I didnt even think about squirrels chewing through!!
