Hello! Welcome to BYC! I am sorry for all of the issues you are going through. I lost my only sister to Altzheimers a year ago this August, very hard to deal with... I am sorry you lost your Qeenie girl. I would try and get at least one more bird to keep her company. I think it could be therapeutic for you too! I know it is tough to lose birds we love. I have lost some too. But I know they had great lives here. I love every bird we have had they make every day better IMHO! Hang in there! 🙂

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Gosh, so sorry about your loss of Queeniegirl. :hugs It is hard, as most of us get close to some of our chickens, and when they pass, it's heartwrenching.

We have @TwoCrows here that kept a single elderly hen for many years. She could help you understand this.

I personally think you should get two more. That way, when Big Mama's time comes, you'll have two left. In about five years down the road, get two more. If you do choose to wait a few years, then I'd just keep Big Mama. She's happy where she is, and you would always wonder how she was doing if she were elsewhere.
❤️

Welcome to BYC! I'm so sorry for your loss of Queenie. That's always really hard. ❤️

I just want to say, a few years ago I had a Barred Rock hen named Big Mama too!! Thought that was a fun coincidence ✨

Best wishes with your hen.
